When Bosch introduced the first LH-Jetronic in 1982, it became apparent that the future of performance engine development was no longer to remain the eminent domain of old-school engine builders, but it was going to become increasingly co-dependent on the software coded into the ECU and that ran the fuel injection and the ignition, therefore the motor itself. By the end of the '80s most performance cars had some form of electronic fuel injection, and engine tuning had taken on a completely new dimension.
